New York City has been described as the cultural capital of the world by New York's Baruch College. History

In the precolonial era, the area of present-day New York City was inhabited by Algonquian Native Americans, including the Lenape. Their homeland, known as Lenapehoking, included Staten Island, Manhattan, the Bronx, the western portion of Long Island (including the areas that would later become the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens), and the Lower Hudson Valley.The city is a historical goldmine as it has been the center for numerous world events such as wars, movements and terror attacks.
